Automated Work Cell Concept

The Automated Work Cell (AWC) was developed to address the need for automation that can adapt to fluctuating market demands. It is a reconfigurable automated platform that will be capable of supporting the production of multiple SKUs via the development of modular, interchangeable subsystems. The design of the AWC is confidential, and no photos will be provided; However, two of its subsystems are illustrated below.

The two subsystems illustrated below interface with the AWC. They were designed in parallel to ensure parts are robustly removed from the mold and a repeatable, high-quality cut was made. Noteworthy features are self-justifying nipper blades and gripper fingers that positively locate parts.
